Performing Arts

Does your student wish to pursue an intensive pre-professional program in music, theatre, dance (or all three for musical theatre) or do they wish to continue their artistic journey within a more broad academic experience? Or are they trying to decide? I can help sort through this decision and the myriad of very different paths (BFA, BA, or student groups) before them.

Artistic Pathway Advising

Not sure if you’re headed for Broadway or Carnegie Hall, a cappella glory, or just want to keep the stage lights on in your college life? Whether you’re dreaming big or just love to perform, I help students figure out how the performing arts can fit into their college experience — without turning your college search into a three-act drama.

Together, we’ll unpack what you really want from performing in college, explore all the options (yes, there are a lot), and map out a list of schools where you can thrive — on stage and off.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Get clear on your goals. Do you want performing to be your future career, a serious side passion, or just a creative outlet? We’ll talk it out.

  • Decode the alphabet soup. BFA vs. BM vs. BA vs. “Hey, there’s a killer student-run musical every semester.” I’ll explain what’s what — and which path fits you best.

  • Create an initial custom-fit college list. I’ll pull together an initial list of potential colleges based on your unique needs - including notes on relevant faculty, recent productions, audition requirements, and program structures.

Finding your spotlight doesn’t mean losing your mind. I’ll help you keep it grounded, exciting, and totally you.

Performing Arts Application Support

Applying to college is hard enough—but add prescreens, auditions, and wildly varied program requirements, and the process for performing arts students becomes a full-time job. For Musical Theatre especially, students often apply to 15–25 programs, each with their own set of timelines, materials, and artistic requirements. This service is designed to guide students through the intense and sometimes overwhelming audition application journey, ensuring every box is checked and no deadline is missed.

  • Streamlined Applications: Help completing the performing arts portions of the Common App, artistic supplements, and program-specific portals.

  • Audition Task Tracking: Customized timeline management for video submissions, callbacks, travel dates, and decision deadlines.

  • Less Chaos, More Clarity: Clear communication, shared tools, and ongoing support to keep students and parents sane.  Because  sometimes it’s better if someone else nags your kid about deadlines 😉

Having an expert keep track of every moving piece frees the student to focus on what matters most—delivering their best performance.

Audition Preparation & Coaching

For high-intensity BFA or BM programs,  your audition is the centerpiece of the application. That’s why I team up with expert artistic coaches to help students start early and stay focused—so their talent shines and their school list fits their goals. From monologue to musical cuts to final recordings, we guide the process every step of the way.

  • Strengths Assessment & Targeting.  We identify your artistic strengths, then re-evaluate your school list to ensure the right match—academically and artistically.

  • Piece Selection & Coaching. With your audition requirements in hand, we help choose strong pieces and work with you in rehearsals to refine delivery and confidence.

  • Professional Recording Support. We coordinate the timing, setup, and polishing of required recordings so your final product reflects your best self.

Having an expert team behind you helps ensure you're not just auditioning—but standing out.

Note: For BA programs, auditions are usually (but not always) optional, but many schools encourage students to submit an arts supplement. If a student can provide clips of musical performances, we can prepare a short video that showcases the students’ artistic skills.
